The AMU Dance Company is directed by Véronique Asencio. The Ballet Preljocaj intervenes regularly during rehearsals.
DANSE'AMU - University Company
In 2018, Aix-Marseille University created a university dance company by selecting twenty or so experienced and high-level student dancers to work on artistic and choreographic creation as a group.
This company is built in close collaboration with the Ballet Preljocaj, which regularly intervenes with the group throughout the year, providing real artistic added value. It is directed by Véronique Asencio, dancer and choreographer. The university company aims, through choreographic creation and the accompaniment of major cultural and university events throughout the year, to carry the values of artistic excellence of Aix-Marseille University.
Rehearsals take place every week in Aix and Marseille, at a rate of 5 hours per week.
Tuesday evenings from 6:15 to 8:15 pm in Marseille (Ecole Nationale de Danse de Marseille, 20 Bd de Gabès 13008 Marseille)
Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm in Aix (Le Cube, Site Schuman)
The commitment in the Company requires a certain availability as well as a rigour inherent to a high level ensemble.

A 2021-22 season that promises to be rich and eclectic...
We will question memory and time on the tunes of PIAZZOLLA's Tango, with ensembles "set like clocks" and more intimate duets and solos allowing the sensuality of the bodies to speak for themselves...
The question of the environment will be present in the creation of Alexandros MARKEAS' "7th Continent" where the company will share the stage with the OSAMU orchestra and the EV choir of AMU in the open air before the summer.
Throughout the season, the "Midi-Cie" will welcome you for public rehearsals at the Cube and, from the beginning of the school year, our "MINIATURES" will travel to the different sites of the university.
After months without being able to share the dance with the public, we are SO READY to meet you again!

Focus:
"And...to see the color of poppies again" - During the confinement, the dancers of the company did not stop dancing and creating (by video, by telephone). From this work was born a project which is declined in two proposals: a short film and a choreographic creation.
