Objectives

The objective of the AAP Transformation of training through research is to transform the Master's level training offer by reinforcing the link between training and research around one or several reinforcements:

  • "Research": to initiate Master's students more into research to ensure more effective training and the acquisition of new skills.
  • "Internationalization": to increase the international experience of Master's students through mobility and to develop the international strategy of the programs.
  • "Link with the Socio-Economic and Cultural World (MSE)": to multiply the opportunities for Master's students to work with the actors of the MSE. This will allow them to learn from them, to improve the student/SEM experience, as well as professional integration.

This call for projects aims to encourage training courses to be structured through research to enable students to better understand the ecosystem in which they evolve and to draw the best possible benefits.
It aims to extend the transformation trajectory initiated by the PIA TIGER project to all of the site's Master's level courses.
Thus, the courses associated with the institutes of the establishment will benefit from funding from the future investment program via the TIGER project (PIA). The courses that are not associated with an institutional institute will benefit from funding from the A*Midex foundation (IDEX).

Target audience

This call for proposals is open to all national "M" level degrees (Masters, engineering degrees) on the Aix-Marseille site (i.e. offered within one of the member structures of the Aix-Marseille Initiative of Excellence).
Project leaders must submit their applications in consultation with the institutional institutes (PIA) and/or the components (PIA and IDEX) that will assist them in their implementation.

Budget

The call for projects has a provisional budget of 1.6 million euros, divided equally between courses attached to institutional institutes (PIA) and courses not attached to institutional institutes (IDEX).

Methods of construction

The call for proposals for the Transformation of training through research was developed in the framework of a consultation process based on four working groups (Training-Research Link, Internationalization and Mobility, Link with the Socio-Economic World and Evaluation), led by an Operational Committee and an Executive Committee. The following people were consulted: the Vice-Presidents of Education, Research, International Relations, Continuing Education and Work-study, Orientation and Professional Integration, the 18 Institutes of the institution, the components, the AMU departments (DEVE, DRV, SFPC, SUIO, DRI, DPMSE), the partners of the A*Midex consortium, and companies.

Transformation trajectory

The transformation process proposed by the call for projects will be carried out progressively, in 3 phases, depending on the progress of the project:

  1. Support phase
  2. Transformation phase
  3. Labeling phase

Each phase corresponds to a set of prerequisites ("common base"; "level 1"; "level 2") and possible financing in order to prepare the passage to the next phase. The objective for the pathways is to achieve certification in a maximum of 5 years.
At the time of application, the pathway will have to position itself on one of the three phases.
Details of the phases of the training offer transformation trajectory and the sources of financing are given in the table below and defined in the framework text.

trajectoire de l'AAP

Candidate pathways that do not validate the common base will not receive funding but will be authorized to rework their application to participate in the next AAP.

Expectations for the different phases

Paliers de l'AAP

Applicant pathways that are positioned in the support and transformation phase will receive funding to prepare them to meet the criteria of level 1 (transformation) or level 2 (accreditation). In this respect, the pathways may receive funding for a number of measures corresponding to the chosen reinforcements.
Details of the devices are given in the table below and defined in the framework text:

Devices available for all pathways regardless of the reinforcement and the phases:

Devices available only for levels 1 and 2:

- Internships
- Scholarships
- Seminars
- Events
- External events

Research Reinforcement :
- Conducting a research project

MSE Reinforcement :
- Work-study

Pathways involved in the accompaniment phase (the pathway meets the common core and is preparing to reach the criteria for level 1) may request funding for one or two of the pedagogical devices listed above.
Pathways involved in the transformation and labeling phase may request funding for three of the pedagogical devices listed below (and up to four for those involved in two reinforcement phases).

How to apply?

The application for this call for projects is made in two steps described below:

  • STEP 1: DECLARATION OF INTENT

The declaration of intent is a MANDATORY step in the process. However, it is not subject to selection. The candidate routes present their transformation project in a (short) declaration of intent that they can enter online at this link (link available on Friday, January 21, 2022 at noon).

During this first step, they will have to indicate the phase in which they intend to participate (accompaniment, transformation or labeling), the reinforcement (s) on which they wish to engage and the pedagogical device (s) that they wish to implement and for which they will request funding. Statements of intent may be returned until February 25, 2022 (noon, Paris time).

  • STEP 2: PROJECT SUBMISSION

During this stage, applicants will detail their transformation project through an online form accessible from this link (link available soon). They will provide information on the various aspects of the project, including the link between training and research, research, internationalization and the link with the socio-economic world. This information will allow us to evaluate the most relevant transformation path for the course.

They will also confirm the phase in which they intend to enter (support, transformation or accreditation), the reinforcement (s) they wish to commit to and the pedagogical device (s) they wish to implement and for which they will request funding. Projects may be submitted from Friday, February 25, 2022 (noon, Paris time) to Friday, April 8, 2022 (noon, Paris time).
