The AMU Energy Challenge

As part of its Green Plan, dedicated to Sustainable Development, Aix-Marseille University is launching an "Energy Challenge". Driven by a large-scale awareness campaign, this challenge aims to reduce the university's electricity consumption by 3% by one year (January to December 2018).

1. Presentation

In this perspective, a thematic eco-gesture will be highlighted each month, promoted to all users of the institution: students, doctoral candidates, teacher-researchers and administrative staff. In January, light is in the spotlight, with a simple gesture: remember to turn off the lights, and favour natural light (see visual below). Since the sum of all individual initiatives has a significant impact on a large scale, it is essential that as many people as possible take ownership of the environmental and energy consumption issues. Sustainable development is above all and above all everyone's business. Together, let's take up the Energy Challenge!

2. Discover the ecogest of the month

October : Heating is in the spotlight, with one simple gesture: cover yourself well to avoid gaps between the inside and outside and avoid overheating.

  • Data of the month: Heating in 2017 = 40,449 tonnes CO²
  • AMU action: Implementation of regulations according to outdoor temperatures with night/week end reduction
  • Ecogeste: From October, I take out my sweaters again!

3. Photo contest: Stage your ecogestphalist!

AMU is organizing a photo contest to promote the 2018 eco-gestures and further encourage the AMU community to take action to save energy.

As its name suggests, it is necessary to stage an eco-gestor in connection with the year's theme: electricity.

What is important to us in this process is not to show your talents as a photographer but rather as a director and your way of acting to save energy.

It is open from 17 September to 17 November 2018.

A prize-giving ceremony will take place at the end of November during the "Semaine Agir Ensemble".
