Scientific culture: 4 PhD students on mission

Missions complémentaires CST

Adeline Garcia, Lorène Tosini, Roxanne Cesarini and Jordan Molitor are on a mission! A rather special mission for these four young researchers from Aix-Marseille University: that of bringing scientific culture to life by sharing their research with the general public.

Meeting middle and high school students from the southern region, imagining games on their research themes or discussing online or in the public space with the general public, such will be the mission of these four doctoral students.

Recruited by the Scientific Culture Unit of Aix-Marseille University, a department attached to the Research and Valorisation Department, these young researchers will be involved in numerous actions of the scientific cultural programme in 2021.

So chances are you'll come across Adeline, Jordan, Lorène and Roxanne telling stories of research on the composition of asteroids, neuroscience, contaminated soils in the calanques or life in the mountains in the Middle Ages! The Lab Tour

The 4 doctoral students on a complementary mission of scientific culture will take part in the Labo Tour. This project offers a 360° immersion in research environments. This application will allow the curious to put themselves in the shoes of a researcher by virtually entering his or her laboratory to carry out scientific experiments, among other things! The application will be available from September 2021.

The complementary mission of scientific culture

Each year, the scientific culture unit integrates into its team doctoral students on a complementary mission of scientific dissemination. The doctoral students then participate in the various events organized by the unit. This mission, formalized by an amendment to the doctoral contract, represents an investment and remuneration equivalent to the teaching mission (32 days spread over the year depending on the activity).
