Vaccinating students as a priority: AMU welcomes and supports the position taken by the President of the Southern Region

Aix-Marseille Université (AMU) has long affirmed the importance of vaccinating students as a priority and welcomes the call by Mr Renaud Muselier, President of the Southern Region and a doctor by profession, to open vaccination to students from next April.

At the Aix-Marseille University ceremony on 20 January last, President Eric Berton had already asked the government to give priority to students in the vaccination plan.
This measure would thus enable students to resume a face-to-face course of study on an ongoing basis.

Given the psychological, educational and economic distress of our students, their access to vaccination against COVID-19 would be an effective measure for our young people. On Wednesday 3 March, Mr Renaud Muselier, President of the South Region, mentioned on his Twitter account "wanting to save our 18-24 year olds by reserving 2.7 million of the 35 million doses of Johnson & Johnson vaccine that France should receive at the end of April", an appeal immediately supported by Aix-Marseille University.

AMU, a university committed to the well-being of students
Since the beginning of the health crisis, Aix-Marseille Université has mobilized on all fronts to help students.
Food aid - Psychological support - Creation of partnerships for care pathways covered by social security - Hiring student tutors - Equipping lecture theatres for distance learning courses - Donations of computers and USB keys to fight against the digital divide, this non-exhaustive list of solidarity aid demonstrates the willingness of AMU and its president Eric Berton to support and accompany students in the face of the crisis.
