During this solemn evening, President Eric Berton will present the diplomas and insignia of knights and officers of the National Order of Academic Palms of Aix-Marseille University as well as the medals of the University.
The Palmes académiques is a French decoration to honour distinguished members of the university. It is the oldest of the distinctions awarded only in a civilian capacity
under cover of the rector of the academy. Outside the university, it can also distinguish people who render valuable services in one of the activities of the National Education and eminent personalities exceptionally enriching the cultural heritage. The order of academic palms includes three grades: knight, officer, commander.
