The A*Midex audiovisual collection "Experimenting with the future" aims to publicize the research and training projects supported by the A*Midex Foundation. These films give a voice to project leaders in order to promote the content of their work to the scientific community and the general public.

Dive into the heart of the Aix-Marseille University Laboratories with these new episodes devoted to two of the winners of the A*Midex "Emergence and Innovation" project call: Meca-Tin & NORMAL-PCW.

Mechanism of tinnitus and hyperacusis | Meca-Tin

A project led by Arnaud Noreña, CNRS Research Director, within the Cognitive Neuroscience Laboratory (LNC)

This project aims to understand the mechanisms of tinnitus and hyperacusis, to develop original methods to evaluate and categorize tinnitus and hyperacusis sufferers, and to test therapeutic approaches.
This video takes us to the Clairval hospital where the project team explains the origin of the symptoms, how they carry out their studies and analyze the results.
Arnaud Noreña will also tell us about the application his team is developing in collaboration with hospitals.

Tension wood, a renewable and biodegradable material | Normal PCW

A project led by Anne Charier, CNRS Research Director, within the Interdisciplinary Center of Nanoscience of Marseille

This project aims to study the material wood which offers a great physicochemical diversity thus multiplying the possibilities of use among which the biofuel, the production of paper or the construction.
We meet Anne Charier and her team on the Luminy Campus for a microscopic observation of the cell walls of reaction wood, compared to normal wood. The team shares with us their findings on the mechanical and optical properties of these cells. Their work and results are of particular interest to the conventional wood industry, but also to the development of biodegradable and flexible components for electronics and green optics, fields that are in full expansion.
