Creation of the Labo des Minots

Researchers in psychology and neuroscience have come together to create the Labo des Minots: a research space to study child development. This space consists of a BabyLab for infants from 3 months to 3 years old and a Kidslab for research on children from 3 years to 12 years old.

The Labo des Minots was born from the common will of the Laboratoire de Psychologie Cognitive and the Laboratoire de Neurosciences Cognitives (CNRS / Aix-Marseille Université) to study cognitive and cerebral development from birth to adolescence.

Located on the Saint-Charles Campus in Marseille, the Labo des Minots has two spaces: the Babylab, adapted to research on infants (from 3 months to 3 years) and the Kidslab, for children from 3 to 12 years.

With 50 m² (eventually 80) it offers an experimental space to study how children learn to understand the world around them by offering them fun activities adapted to their age.
By analyzing behavior and measuring physiological signals, it is possible to study at what age a cognitive function appears, how it develops, and what part is innate and acquired, etc.

Thanks to this platform, researchers who are experts in language development, social cognition and sensorimotricity aim to better understand human development.

The Labo des Minots is currently looking for 6-month-old babies (between 5 and a half and 7 and a half months) to participate in a study. The study lasts between 5 and 10 minutes and focuses on the understanding of causality in pre-verbal babies. In concrete terms, the baby will be on the parent's lap and will watch short videos. The child will be filmed, and we will then measure its gaze time. A reward? Baby will leave with a scientist's diploma and a small gift!
