Aix-Marseille acquires a 7T ultra-high field MRI

Chaire industrielle SIEMENS

A collaboration within the framework of the new industrial chair "7TEAMS" set up between AMU, AP-HM, CNRS and SIEMENS Healthineers, which will notably enable to propose a clinical use of ultra high field MRI technologies.

With a duration of 5 years (2020-2025), the industrial chair will :

- Conduct innovative developments and cutting-edge research on the MAGNETOM Terra system, the only 7T MRI system clinically approved (EU and FDA).
- Establish a unique training environment in ultra-high field MRI (UHF) by offering specific and innovative teaching and training programs and by strengthening existing programs at regional, national and international levels.
- Bring this technology to the benefit of patients and public health through the possibility of clinical use for the whole body.

Such a facility in a mixed research and clinical environment is currently the only one of its kind in the world.

The project, led by Professor Maxime GUYE, representing the CRMBM-CEMEREM and the AP-HM, has received financial support from the A*Midex foundation to the tune of €3.6 million as part of the "Industrial Chair" scheme. The SIEMENS Healthineers company contributes to the implementation of the project for € 5.3 million. The total budget of the project is €12.5 million.
