11 February International Day of Women and Girls in Science

Sciences au féminin

Since its proclamation by the United Nations General Assembly in 2015, the International Day of Women and Girls in Science aims to raise awareness of gender disparities in science.
This year's celebration of the Day at UNESCO Headquarters will address the theme "Women scientists at the forefront of the fight against COVID-19". It will bring together experts from different sectors and backgrounds, including key scientific partners, young women scientists rewarded by the L'Oréal-UNESCO Programme for Women in Science, representatives of scientific networks and UNESCO Chairs.
The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated the critical role of women researchers at different stages of the COVID-19 response while having a significant negative impact on women scientists, affecting in particular those at the beginning of their careers, thus contributing to widening the gender gap already existing in science.
The event will be held online via the Zoom platform.
