I'm in L1 and would like to reorient myself in the first year of higher education: I have to put together a file and make wishes on Parcoursup.

This does not apply to

  • students who are repeating their first year (they must re-register directly with their institution)
  • international applicants subject to a request for prior admission (DAP)
  • applicants who only wish to apply to foreign higher education courses (they must apply directly to the courses they are interested in)
  • students who wish to return to the program in which they were enrolled at the end of their gap year (they have the right to reinstate or re-enroll at the end of their gap year).

Information to help you make your choices

In Parcoursup, you'll find for each course :

  • a precise description: its status (public/private and selective/non-selective), the courses offered, tuition fees, success rates, job opportunities and conditions for further study, the number of places available, information for applicants with disabilities, minimum scholarship rates applicable the previous year
  • expectations: the knowledge and skills needed to succeed
  • criteria for examining applications
  • dates of open days or immersion days/weeks organized by the establishments that interest you
  • contact details for an educational manager, disability advisor or student ambassador
  • suggestions for courses in line with your research

I want to change direction: will I have an Avenir file?

The Avenir form enables the program you are applying for to get to know you better, and to provide additional information for the review of your application. If you are reorienting after a first year in higher education, there are two tools available for this purpose:

The Avenir form filled in by your lycée will be accessible in part.
It will enable the school to consult your grades (final year averages, teachers' assessments by subject, positioning in the class) and your principal teacher's assessments. The head teacher's opinion will not be available for consultation, as it related to each of the wishes formulated for the previous year's procedure.

A dedicated follow-up form for non-baccalaureate applicants will enable you to highlight the steps you have taken to reorient your studies.
This form can be completed by the SUIO
This form is optional. Nevertheless, it will enable you to highlight the process of reflection and reorientation you have undertaken for your new study project, with the help of a guidance service.

Will my reorientation file be examined in the same way as that of a high school senior?

Yes. As with high school students, the consistency between the applicant's project and the characteristics of the course will be taken into account when examining the application. The optional follow-up sheet can be an asset in explaining your reorientation process, in line with your project and your desire for higher education.

How can I make the most of my career if I'm changing direction?

On Parcoursup, the "My activities and interests" section lets you highlight your professional and personal experience, as well as extracurricular skills such as internships, language stays, volunteer work and sports activities.

You can complete four sections:

  • management and leadership experience
  • civic involvement and voluntary work
  • work experience and internships
  • openness to the world.

And if you have any certifications or have obtained a title, prize or non-academic diploma, you can indicate this.

Please note: when you register with the school, you may be asked to provide proof of the validity of the qualifications you have indicated. And if you fill in the follow-up form, the information entered in the "My activities and interests" section will be integrated into this form.

As a reoriented applicant, do I have priority for a degree in my geographical area?

Geographical sectoring does not distinguish between transfer students and high school students.
Applications are analyzed according to the same criteria, defined in the "Application review" section for the degree applied for.

I'm a transfer student. Will I keep the same Parcoursup file number as in 2023? Will my data be kept?

Your old identifiers will no longer be functional, but remember to use the same e-mail address as last year to retrieve your file.
